Amigos de Honduras was founded by the Elvir family in loving memory of Juana Rovelo Elvir to help the poor families in her home town of Valle de Angeles, Honduras. We are a non-denominational Christian organization which desires to see people come to a knowledge of Jesus Christ and experience the love of our heavenly father.
There are many aspects to the ministry of Amigos de Honduras. We send teams of volunteers to work in medical clinics and pharmacies which open their doors to people who otherwise have no medical care. We help in churches, orphanages, and on the streets teaching practical skills such as haircutting, crocheting, etc. Our construction teams have helped build a school and a playground, and plans are currently underway to build more housing for future Amigos teams.
We collaborate with local ministries Vision Christiana and Leonard & Maria Jones ( R.O.C. Ministry) lending support to their church, orphanage, and Compassion House (a home which ministers to single, pregnant women).
We regularly send boxes of clothes, toys, books and other children’s necessities which are donated by caring people in the U.S. and distributed locally by Raul Elvir.
